Leutkirch - July 2008
On 3rd June, the executive board of the Pfleiderer AG approved an investment package with a total volume of 9 million euros for its subsidiary Thermopal. The investments include a new impregnation channel and a new warehouse for impregnated decorative paper.
The largest single investment since 1992 marks the beginning of another important chapter in the success story of the Leutkirch-based manufacturer of derived timber products. In addition to the investment’s impressive rate of return, the high level of trust in the employees at the Leutkirch branch, who work tirelessly to maintain the company’s successful growth strategy, proved a crucial factor in the executive board’s positive decision.
The investment in a new impregnation channel and a warehouse for impregnated decorative paper will allow the company to significantly improve its position as a premium market supplier. The new equipment used to impregnate the decorative paper facilitates the production of innovative, “intelligent” surfaces. This means that know-how from the field of nanotechnology can be transformed into real products via a pragmatic approach, such as decorative plates with easy-to-clean features or high-gloss, scratch-proof surfaces for the furniture and interior fittings industries. This technological progress will enable Thermopal to both expand existing markets and develop new ones.
The new warehouse space for impregnated decorative paper will allow Thermopal to significantly reduce its delivery times. It will thus be in a position of increased flexibility when meeting the needs of its customers. Service-related improvements like these are essential to the continued successful expansion of the national and international contract industry, in order to be able to withstand ever stronger market competition.
